You Probably Couldn’t Copy & Paste the Link to this Blog Without Dado Banatao
Well it's about that time again- It's time to read your favorite weekly release of "WWYSI" and this week is all about Diosdado “Dado” Banatao—the inventor of the 16-Bit Microchip. If you asked yourself what the significance of something so small is, allow me to explain!!
Diosdado “Dado” Banatao created quite a few things but one of the most profound inventions by him is the 16-Bit Microchip. Created in 1972, it was the first single-chip graphical user interface accelerator. According to an article on Prezi by Meryll Dayne Solano. "This allowed computer users to use graphics for commands and not the usual typed commands in older computers."
So basically imagine having to type out a command to copy and paste text... I don't know about you but I live by "Crtl C."
This also meant that computers could finally run faster and with ethernet being released the following year in 1973, it provided an almost seamless transition in an ever growing tech space.
I definitely owe it to Banatao, I can confidently say that he laid the foundation to make most of our lives easier even in the smallest of ways. He ran with technology so we could run even further.
TL;DR:
Diosdado “Dado” Banatao created a very profound invention- the 16-Bit Microchip. Created in 1972, it was the first single-chip graphical user interface accelerator. According to an article on Prezi by Meryll Dayne Solano. "This allowed computer users to use graphics for commands and not the usual typed commands in older computers." Although this microchip is very small it definitely left a powerful impact. Banatao ran far with technology so we could run even further.
