This Girl Definitely Codes

With every release of "WWYSI..." I try to compress tons of information and accomplishments about one person into a 2 minute article. This week I decided to challenge myself and write about Reshma Saujani and if I were to try to get into all the things she has accomplished and the missions she has driven, I would probably end up with a Ted Talk, which, Reshma Saujani did. Let me explain why I'm writing about her this week.

What Would You Say If... I told you that there's a non-profit organization that is dedicated to expanding the number ladies in STEM and computer science. This organization goes by the name "Girls Who Code."

Founded in 2012 Saujani wanted to bridge the gap within the tech space and provide the opportunity for young girls to learn how to code. Girls Who Code is now moving into their 11th impactful year. "What started as an experiment in 2012 has grown into a national movement. Girls Who Code has gone from 20 girls in New York to 10,000 girls in 42 states" now has over 8,500 programs globally!

In addition to founding Girls Who Code, Saujani launched the Marshall Plan for Moms initiative to support women in the workplace affected by the pandemic, she is also a lawyer, activist, politician, and author of three books.

Although this is just a snippet of Reshma Saujani's accomplishments, she's run far with technology and has made it so generations to come can run even further!
